Join us for the launch of re:rural, four contemporary artists un-learn and re-imagine the rural
Haarlem Artspace: Annalee Davis
Haarlem Periodical: Annalee Davis, Feral Practice, Deirdre O’Mahony and Pauline Woolley.
Thanks to funding from Arts Council England, Haarlem Artspace has brought together exhibitions called re:rural – featuring drawings and a sculpture by artists Annalee Davis inside and outside Haarlem’s gallery, and sound, moving image, and text works on Haarlem Periodical by artists Deirdre O’Mahony, Feral Practice, Pauline Woolley and Annalee Davis.
re:rural travels from deep under the earth to the skies, from Derbyshire to the Caribbean in an artistic quest to re-imagine land and landscapes; from a guided meditation through the human body and down to the underworld of living soil, the drawing of botanical plants on plantation ledgers, and the recreation of potato lazy beds.
Public opening event at Haarlem Artspace: 7pm, 11 September, then from 8pm the Wirksworth Festival will present a film about the work and practice of Wirksworth-based artists, made by Haarlem Artspace studio holder Gavin Repton. Followed by a Northern Light Cinema outdoor screening, the first of 3 Friday films in September at Haarlem Mill.
Haarlem Periodical will be live from 11 September.
