The Haarlem Project

11 Jan, 2023

Hello Haarlem

We’re delighted to announce that the future of Haarlem Artspace CIC is now secured and that we’re busy making plans and looking forward to 2023.

The mill itself will still provide creative studio spaces and our Haarlem Gallery will still continue to provide a year-round programme of exhibitions and events.

Directors Bev Shephard, Cat Rogers and Liv Penrose Punnett have now stepped down with two make way for two new Directors, myself Paul Carr and Sarah Armstrong to join the board. Sarah already manages the gallery space at The Red Lion Hotel and so I will managing the studios and looking to build on the foundations laid to date. We’ll also be actively seeking additional talents to join us in the New Year so please get in touch if you feel you could help in any way.

Haarlem Artspace has really embed the arts and creative industries into the very heart of Wirksworth. It has not only been instrumental in attracting talent into the town, but has enriched Wirksworth’s cultural identity and demonstrated the positive economic impact, not just on the town but within the Derbyshire Dales.

So in 2023 I will be exploring the potential of Haarlem, Wirksworth and the Derbyshire Dales, to act as a creative hub, creating a cultural destination that makes the area as synonymous with creativity as it once was for industry.

Here’s to the New Year!
