I am an artist working predominantly with wet felt. My work takes on organic shapes and forms and is inspired by nature including humanity ourselves animal plant life landscape and the ocean. I am passionate about using natural locally sourced materials as well as recycled ones. I am currently in the process of making a series of small white wool wet felted cocoon like hanging structures initially inspired by a collection of seaweed samples collected from the Dorset coast. Exploring their shape size and form further I am making large interactive pieces on a human or childlike scale. I’m fascinated by the emotions evoked by being inside a cocoon/womb shaped structure creating a warmth and comforting environment. The colour palette currently used is naturally derived from the materials I am using with nothing added.
