Charlie Fothergill

Botanist & Artist

Charlie has a diverse educational and professional background that has encompassed studying fine art, art history and marketing and she is currently working towards MSc Biological Recording and Ecological Surveying at Manchester Metropolitan University, specialising in botanical identification.

Her obsession with plants has been a continuous thread through this time, from running foraging workshops to Instagramming flowers for National Trust properties to studying 17th century Dutch still life painting.

Alongside her master’s degree she creates art that explores overlooked and forgotten native plants, experimenting with techniques such as lino printing, natural inks and illustration, as well as videos and posts on Instagram about plant identification.
