Angharad McLaren

Weaver, Textile Designer and Researcher

Angharad McLaren is a Scottish textile designer and researcher whose work uses design innovation and traditional craft techniques to explore themes relating to sustainability, heritage, and wellbeing. Often taking a participatory approach, she aims to share the positive power of making and creativity using technology, craft, humour and sport as participatory tools to engage audiences.

She studied woven textiles at Glasgow School of Art and completed an MA in Constructed Textiles at the Royal College of Art in 2006. Currently based at Haarlem artspace in rural Derbyshire, Angharad is a remote member of Weave Studio Nottingham at Primary, a part- time lecturer at Nottingham Trent University (NTU), and an active member of the NTU Clothing Sustainability Research Group.
